From Our Director
Welcome to The Learning Center (TLC), Chester County School District's Alternative Education Program. If you are a new student to The Learning Center, let me be the first to say that it will be a pleasure to serve you. If you are a returning student from last year, or any previous period, we are glad to have you back and look forward to serving you again.
The Learning Center Alternative Program serves middle and high school students in the Chester County School District who have behavioral and/or attendance issues as well as those who may function better in an alternative setting. Students are referred to The Learning Center by their homw school administration or the district hearing officer. The purpose of The Learning Center is to provide a structured learning environment that fosters social, emotional, and academic development for students in grades 6-12. The main goal of the program is to have students successfully return to their home schools.
Please know that the teachers of The Learning Center along with the administrative staff are readily available to assist you. We consider The Learning Center to be a family, and as with any family there are responsibilities. We, the staff, will be responsible for providing you with a rigorous education along with guidance and support for your future endeavors. You, the student, will be responsible for being prepared each day, applying yourself, and following the rules. You, the parent, will be responsible for taking an active role in your child's educational experience.
We hope that our program will serve to foster an atmosphere in which every individual is respected and encouraged to reach his/her fullest potential academically and socially.
We look forward to a productive year!
