WELCOME TO CHESTER PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OF FINE ARTS!
I am humble and excited to be the new principal of Chester Park Elementary School of the Arts. Recognizing the school offers such a unique opportunity for young minds to grow and flourish as they partake in a curriculum infused with the arts, I am enthusiastic to serve in an innovative environment that promotes skills that tap into students’ propensity for critical thinking and creativity. Understanding, that Chester Park-Arts’ staff is dedicated to ensuring that all students are successful, I respect and value that commitment. In my role as the school’s leader, I am willing and ready to support Chester Park-Arts in a continued effort in moving forward on its path of excellence.
Personally, I was born in Columbia, South Carolina and raised in neighboring Fairfield County, where I currently live in the town of Winnsboro. I am the daughter of Jennifer and Alex Harper and Eddie J. and the proud mother of three precious children-Christopher, Alexis and VicTorry and one gorgeous delightful granddaughter; I have two loving sisters, an energetically curious niece, a mastermind nephew, and the most caring and loving fiancé, Johnathan. I received both a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Winthrop University. In addition, I earned two Educational Specialist degrees, one in Administration Supervision the other in Administration in Leadership from Converse College. I have over 25 years of experience in the field of education that include positions as a substitute teacher, teaching assistant, special education teacher, curriculum resource specialist, assistant principal, Title I Consultant, Coordinator of Special Services, and South Carolina State Transformation Coach.
It is imperative that I engage in school and community events and activities to ensure I solidify my place in the Chester Park-Arts culture. As principal of Chester Park, I realize the importance of building relationships with all stakeholders; staff members, students, parents, local business partners, nearby colleges, and the community. Therefore, I will be very visible and accessible in the school and community.
