• COVID-19, more commonly known as the Coronavirus, has continued to spread overseas and there have been many confirmed cases in the United States. Government agencies are working to prevent or contain any cases identified in the U.S. Our district continues to monitor the situation, and we are working closely with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) and the South Carolina Department of Education to stay informed of any developments of confirmed cases in the state. We will implement recommendations and follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), SC DHEC, and the South Carolina Department of Education as they are determined.

    Residents who are showing symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath should call their personal doctor or healthcare provider. If an individual doesn’t have a primary care physician, MUSC Health is providing free telehealth screening to all South Carolinians. Anyone experiencing symptoms can visit MUSC.care and use the promo code COVID19 and be screened without having to leave your home.

    The following information addresses questions you may have regarding school closures and planned field trips.


    Today Governor Henry McMaster along with State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman announced that school districts will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. Our district is finalizing plans to continue our eLearning and paper packet program in accordance with this order. Our current program was designed to continue until May 1. The district will provide details about the next phase of learning soon. If you have questions or need assistance with current assignments, please reach out to your teacher. Our staff remains committed to providing support to our families throughout this process.

    This announcement impacts large events such as graduations and we will be announcing alternative plans to recognize our graduates as soon as they are determined. A survey is being sent out to all high school seniors to gather their input regarding graduation. We understand this school year has not gone as planned for our community or state. We have been impressed by the commitment to education our students, families and staff have shown during this trying time. We will continue to work with our families to provide a high quality education to all students and we hope everyone will continue to stay safe and healthy as we navigate this unprecedented situation.

    Please understand that this announcement is new to everyone and the answer to most of your questions right now will be "we are working on that!" We will provide more information to you as it is available.

    Elementary Packet Pick- Up
    Elementary students in grades Kindergarten to Grade 5 may pick up a new packet and return the completed one on Wednesday, April 15th between 10:00am and 1:00pm at the following school sites: 
    Great Falls High
    Lewisville Middle
    Chester Park Complex (back at cafeteria)
    All students in the district (Pre-K to 12) may return library books, too!  There will be a bin for each elementary, middle, and high school,  so bring your library books to turn in! 
    Meals are not being served on this date, but please come return your elementary packet, receive a new one, and all students may return library books at this time!

    Revised Meal Delivery Schedule

    In an effort to continue to provide our students with meals during school closures, grab n’ go meals will be distributed via bus and curbside at our three school locations listed below.

    On Monday, April 13 meals will only be distributed at our three school locations listed below. There will be NO bus routes on Monday, April 13. The school locations are:

    • Chester Park Complex (back of building at cafeteria)
    • Great Falls Complex
    • Lewisville Middle

    On Tuesday April 14, Bus route deliveries and community sites will resume and remain in place until further notice. Pick up locations are as follows:

    • Chester Park Complex
    • Great Falls Complex
    • Lewisville Middle School
    • Harmony Baptist Church - Edgemoor
    • Mount Zion - Great Falls
    • Fort Lawn Community Center - Fort Lawn
    • Metropolitan AME- Chester

    Starting the week of April 13, we will prepare and serve meals 3 days a week on the following schedule:

    • Monday – Lunch for Monday, Breakfast for Tuesday
    • Tuesday – Lunch for Tuesday, Breakfast and Lunch for Wednesday, Breakfast for Thursday
    • Thursday - Lunch for Thursday, Breakfast and Lunch for Friday, Breakfast for Monday

    All children 18 and under are eligible to receive the free meals. Children must be present to receive the meals.

    Lunches are intended to be eaten immediately or should be stored in the refrigerator within 2 hours.

    Please discard any leftovers within 3 days. Cold foods such as milk, juice, cheese, cut fruits and cold sandwiches should be kept at a minimum of 41 degrees.
