Hello, my name is Ms. Ruthayn Burdette. I am a 1987 graduate of Chester High School. I graduated with a B.S. in Secondary Education, Distributive Education from Winthrop University as well as a M.S. degree in Secondary Education, Business Education. Before joining the Career Center staff, I taught at Union High School for three years. I have also taught Adult Education in Union and Chester counties. The classes that I currently teach are Digital Publication Design, Image Editing, Digital Multimedia, and Fundamentals of Web Design & Development, Game Design, and Advanced Web Design & Development. I have also taught Accounting I & II and Integrated Business Applications I and II, and Google Applications. I am excited about starting my 25th year of teaching this year! After college graduation and before teaching, I was an Office Manager/Administrative Assistant for the Group Sales department at the Radisson Hotel in Fort Mill, SC as well as an Executive Assistant in a Fort Mill entertainment management and promotion company. Over the years I have worked during the summer in a variety of jobs including setting up an accounting system for a local business, dispatching for a trucking company, and working in Human Resources. I enjoy bringing these experiences into the classroom.
As part of my professional development, I am a member of the South Carolina Business Education Association, Southern Business Education Association, National Business Education Association, SCACTE, and ACTE. I have served as Legislative Chair, Secretary, Board Member at Large, Vice President, President-Elect, President, Past President and am currently the Membership Director for SCBEA. I represent SCBEA in SBEA and NBEA as a memberhip director. Participating in these organizations enables me to keep up with current trends and learn new technology as well as network with other business teachers to get new ideas for my classes.
My philosophy is that all students can learn. My job is to find out where a student is and improve on that knowledge to the utmost of their ability by using many different forms of teaching to accommodate students' different learning styles. I look forward to having each student in my class.
