Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Mary Ann Weir

Hi, I'm Mary Ann Caldwell Weir.  I grew up in Blackstock, SC on a small dairy farm.  I graduated from Richard Winn Academy in 1984 and was a Freshman at Columbia College in Columbia, SC.  In 1985, I transfered to the University of South Carolina-- "Go Gamecocks!" In 1989 I graduated from USC with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education/Interdisciplinary Studies.

My first year teaching was with the Four Year Old Program at York Road Elementary School in Chester, SC.  After teaching 4-K for five years, I received my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from USC.  In 1994,  I moved to Chester Park Elementary School and began teaching 2nd Grade.  In 1999,  my family moved back home to Blackstock and I taught Third Grade for fourteen years and first grade for one year at Great Falls Elementary School.  I received my National Board Certification in 2003 and my National Board Certification Renewal in 2012.  In 2015 - 16, I won the amazing honor of serving as Lewisville Elementary's 2015-16 Teacher of the Year and Chester County School District's 2015-16 Teacher of the Year. I was the District's Teacher Forum Leader from 2015 - 2017.

This is my 30th year to teach for Chester County School District.  Throughout my teaching career, I have served in many capacities, including: Chester County's Palmetto State Teacher's Association Representative, Chester Park's Teacher of the Year, a member of PTO, SIC, Leadership and DATA Teams, Mentor Teacher for both Chester County and Winthrop University, SC State SACS Evaluator, SC Middle Schools That Work Evaluator, Grade Level Chair, National Board Evaluator/Scorer, CCSD Teacher Forum, SCNBC board member, and participated on many other committees and organizations.

In my free time, I love reading, playing the piano, swimming, walking, white-water rafting, attending football, basketball and baseball games, vacationing at the beach, attending church, and spending as much time as possible with my family and friends.

I am very excited to have your child in my classroom this year! By working together as a team, we can make 3rd grade a positive experience for you and your child.
