About Mrs. Barron

Hello! My name is Courtney Barron, and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! This is my 4th year at LES. I am originally from Great Falls. When I am not in the classroom I can be found at the baseball field, softball field, a dance competition or a Carolina football game. I also love to travel and my favorite place is Walt Disney World! I am married to Coach Blake Barron who teaches math and is an assistant football coach and head baseball coach at LHS.

I graduated with my masters in Special Education with a concentration in severe and multiple disabilities from the University of South Carolina in 2017 and received my BA in history from Carolina in 2008. I previously have taught at Springfield Elementary School in Fort Mill and Chester High School in Chester.

About Mrs. Shaw

Hey y'all! My name is Christy Shaw, and I am so excited to be a part of your child’s educational journey! I am from Sumter, SC but grew up in Chester, where I attended Chester County Schools. My husband, DJ, and I have 3 daughters–Maddie, Daphne, and Averie. I started working as a substitute in 2022 and then became an assistant in a moderate/severe self-contained special education classroom. I very quickly learned that special education is where my heart is and decided to pursue a degree for it. I am a sophomore at Columbia College for a bachelor's degree in Multi-categorical Special Education and Early Childhood Education. When I’m not doing schoolwork or in the classroom, you'll find me at gymnastics, where my daughter is a competitive gymnast and I also coach, spending time with my family, finding new places to eat, traveling–especially to Disney, and napping on the couch with my dogs, Zeke & Keia!

About Ms. Wright

Hey everyone! My name is Candace Wright, and this is my 4th year as an assistant in Mrs. Barron’s class. I have four children: Danny, Sophia, Thatcher, and Ruby, two beautiful granddaughters, Mya and Harper, and three dogs, Tucker, Willie and Stella. I am currently in my last semester at GCU in pursuit of an Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education degree. I taught preschool for 10 years before I took a break from teaching to raise my kids. I spent 8 years working in pharmacy, but my first love has always been teaching and being in the classroom. When I am not in school or working on my schoolwork, I can be found spending time with my family, reading, cooking, or, on my best days, at the beach.
