Today, on Patriot Day, Chester County School District (CCSD) joins communities across our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honoring the bravery of the first responders, service members, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy.

As educators, we recognize the importance of preserving the lessons of that day for future generations. Patriot Day reminds us of the strength found in unity, the power of service, and the resilience of the American spirit. We encourage our students, staff, and families to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made and the values that continue to bring us together.

May we never forget those we lost, and may we continue to inspire our students with a commitment to compassion, service, and citizenship.

Student safety remains our highest priority.

This week, the Chester County School District successfully completed required lockdown drills at each school. These drills help ensure our students and staff are prepared and confident in emergency procedures.

CCSD extends its sincere gratitude to the Chester County Sheriff's Office for their partnership in conducting these drills, participating debriefing discussions, and demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and schools.

What a great way to open the 2026-2027 school year!

All CCSD schools and facilities will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, March 17, 2026. Please use caution when traveling in the morning, as storm debris or fallen tree limbs may be present on roadways.

The Chester County School District has received an update from local Emergency Management and the National Weather Service regarding a severe weather system moving through our area tomorrow, Monday, March 16, 2026.

Forecasts indicate a high risk for severe thunderstorms, potential tornadoes, and straight-line winds reaching up to 70 MPH. Based on this information and for the safety of our students and staff, all CCSD schools and district facilities will be closed tomorrow, Monday, March 16. All after-school activities will also be canceled.

Instructions regarding weather makeup will be forthcoming at a later time. Please stay safe tomorrow, and we look forward to welcoming students back to campus as soon as conditions allow.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff during this severe weather event.

Earlier this morning, a Tornado Warning was briefly issued in our area. All schools immediately activated emergency protocols for adverse weather. The Warning has now been lifted, and school operations will proceed as normal. A Tornado Watch has been issued for the Great Falls area. All students are currently safe at school. CCSD will continue monitoring local weather conditions and send any updates as needed. We ask that everyone continue to exercise caution as they are traveling throughout the day.

Chester County School District will operate on a 2-hour delay Thursday, January 23, 2025, as overnight freezing may continue to cause hazardous driving conditions during the morning hours, especially on rural routes and side roads. The change will give all morning commuters and our buses additional time and daylight to reach school safely. Students who ride the bus should arrive at their stop two hours later than usual. Similarly, all students and staff should report to their school buildings two hours later than their regular time. We ask that everyone please exercise caution on the roads. Students should also continue to dress warmly, as colder than usual temperatures will continue through the end of the week. Thank you and stay safe!

The latest weather data indicates higher than predicted snowfall in our area. We have been advised that temperatures will remain below freezing, causing hazardous road conditions beyond our initially planned 2-hour delay. After further consideration, and for the safety of our school community, all Chester County School District facilities will be CLOSED on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. February 17, 2025, will be an eLearning weather makeup day, as indicated by our academic calendar. Further details will be released at a later date.
