📚✨ Today was International Literacy Day! ✨📚
Our 5th graders had a very special guest reader, Tom from 106.9 The Light FM, who drove TWO HOURS from Asheville, NC, to read to our students—and then TWO HOURS back home all to celebrate the importance of literacy with our kids! ❤️📖
Tom read The Story of Ruby Bridges by Robert Coles in honor of Ruby Bridges’ birthday, which is also today! 🎉 At 72 years young, Ruby’s story continues to inspire generations and remind us of the courage, strength, and power of education.
We are so grateful to Tom for making the trip and sharing his love of reading with our students! What a memorable way to celebrate International Literacy Day! 📚💙

They say it takes a village to help a child grow, and we couldn’t agree more. Mentors are an important part of that village, providing encouragement, guidance, and support that can make a lasting difference in a student's life.
A caring adult who takes time to listen, build a positive relationship, and offer encouragement can be a powerful source of inspiration. For many students, having a mentor helps them build confidence, overcome challenges, and reach their full potential.
If you or someone you know can dedicate just 30 minutes each week to spending time with one of our little Cyclones, we would love to hear from you! Please stop by our front office to complete a mentor application packet. A background check is required for all mentors.
Your time, support, and encouragement could change a child's life. Join our village and become a mentor today!
