Principal's Message

I hope that you are had a great weekend. Thank you very much for all that you do each and every week to help us to make Great Falls Elementary a GREAT place to be.

Last week our school participated in the Great Shakeout Earthquake Drill - and the children did a fantastic job. Thank you for always supporting safety and security at our school. We need your support in the mornings, as well, Please be sure that students are not dropped off before 7:15 am - and not after 7:59 am. This is just a gentle reminder - if your child is a car rider - please be sure that if you bring him/her to school after 8:00 am - you must bring him/her to the office. Students cannot be dropped off in the car line - because this is a HUGE safety issue...as no adults are assigned to that area after 8:00 am.

If your child is a bus rider, please talk with him/her about the privilege of riding the school bus. Please be sure that your child understands that it is paramount for all students to remain seated and quiet on the school bus so that drivers are able to concentrate and all students can have a safe ride home. Because some buses are having such a difficult time with student behavior, we are going to be forced to begin to remove students who can't behave from the bus...this could be a temporary suspension - or it could result in a permanent removal from the bus. If you have any questions about your child's behavior - or if he/she is not behaving, please reach out to me - and I can share specific details with you.

As you may remember, September was Attendance Awareness Month - and we ran a number of contests to increase our attendance rate both among staff and students. There were a number of staff members entered into a drawing for having perfect attendance for the entire month (A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS) - I am happy to announce that Ms. Frances Frasier was selected as the winner of a $50.00 Gift Card!!! The class that had the BEST ATTENDANCE for September was Mrs. Langit's second grade class. Those students earned a popcorn party. The grade level with the BEST ATTENDANCE was fourth grade - Mrs. Nancy Smith, Mr. Walter Wolff, and Ms. Manaysia Burris - are our teachers at that grade level. Those classes won a popsicle party. Another BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all of the attendance winners - students and staff!

Second grade parents, please remember that next week your children will be participating in the Gifted and Talented Assessments - CogAT and Iowa Testing. Please be sure your child gets a good nights rest and has a good, healthy breakfast - and please be sure to encourage him/her to take their time and do their best. Remind your child that this test may contain items that he or she is not familiar with...or there may be questions that have multiple correct answers. If that is the case, encourage him/her to select the one that seems to be the BEST answer!

Next Wednesday, October 22nd will be Unity Day - across the district. Please allow your child to wear something ORANGE!

Remember that Tuesday is our Title I Parent Conference Evening. The official conference hours will be 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm - unless your child's teacher has scheduled something else with you. If you have not signed up for a conference with your child's teacher, please be sure to do so.

Quarter 1 Report Cards will be sent home on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

The Talking with Tammy scheduled for Friday, October 24, 2025 has been rescheduled for noon on Friday, October 31, 2025 following the First Quarter Awards Program.

Red Ribbon Week will begin on Monday, October 27th - please watch for our special days - that will be observed!

As always, thank you for all that you do! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or should you need something.

Thank you!
