The Chester County School District has received an update from local Emergency Management and the National Weather Service regarding a severe weather system moving through our area tomorrow, Monday, March 16, 2026.
Forecasts indicate a high risk for severe thunderstorms, potential tornadoes, and straight-line winds reaching up to 70 MPH. Based on this information and for the safety of our students and staff, all CCSD schools and district facilities will be closed tomorrow, Monday, March 16. All after-school activities will also be canceled.
Instructions regarding weather makeup will be forthcoming at a later time. Please stay safe tomorrow, and we look forward to welcoming students back to campus as soon as conditions allow.

Happy "Music in Our Schools" Month! Music education is essential for all students, fostering creativity, collaboration, and personal expression.

Meet George Washington Carver. He was a scientist and inventor, known for his agricultural research in sustainable farming, benefiting poor black farmers. He is most known for his work with peanuts, leading to the development of over 100 products made from them.

Meet Thurgood Marshall. He was a groundbreaking lawyer and civil rights activist and was the first Black appointee to the US Supreme Court. Prior to his work on the Supreme Court he worked with the NAACP on the Brown v. Board of Education case, leading to desegregation in schools

Meet Katherine Johnson. She was a mathematician whose work at NASA was imperative to the success of the first American manned spaceflight and the Apollo 11 moon landing. She broke racial and gender barriers in a field dominated by white men.

Meet Langston Hughes. He was a poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and columnist who was central to the Harlem Renaissance. His work highlighted the Black community and culture. His works include The Weary Blues and Montage of a Dream Perfect, among others.

Meet Toni Morrison. She was an acclaimed American novelist, essayist, editor and professor. She is known for her powerful works that explore Black identity and experience. She is the author of the novel Beloved, earning the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize in literature.

Happy National Public Schools Week. This annual celebration to recognizes the power of public education and honor exceptional educators, staff, parents and school board members for all they do to support and empower students every day. Thank you to everyone involved in educating our students.

Meet Neil DeGrasse Tyson. He is an American astrophysicist, author and science communicator, known for making complex science concepts accessible and engaging to the public. He was director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York City and host of TV show Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

Meet Colin Powell. He is a 4-star general in the US Army and the first Black American to serve as the US Secretary of State. He was also National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Meet Jackie Robinson. He is one of the most famous Black Americans in sports, breaking the color barrier in baseball. he was the first Black athlete in MLB in 1947. He signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers, challenging segregation in sports. He is a symbol of integration and progress.

Meet Zora Neale Hurston. She was a Black writer and anthropologist, central to the Harlem Renaissance. She is known for her portrayal of racial struggles in the American South. Her most famous work is Their Eyes Were Watching God.

Meet Louis Armstrong. He was a jazz musician, known for his charismatic stage presence and innovative contributions to music. He had a gravelly voice and outstanding trumpet playing skills. He is one of the most famous and influential artists in jazz and music history.
