National Principals Month: We're Celebrating Our Principals!
Dr. Shana Harper is the Principal of Chester Park Elementary School of Arts and has been with CCSD for four years. She enjoys reading and finds joy in helping others. She loves to spend time with her family.
She says, "As a principal, it's an honor to serve the Chester County Community in a leadership capacity. With the support of our families, staff, students, board, and community members, the culture at Chester Park Elementary School of the Arts is one of respect and inclusion of all. I am privileged to pour into an already rich Chester Family, one who encourages the best for our students and who lives by Psalms 127:3, “Children are a gift from the Lord, they are a reward from Him.”
"I am dedicated to ensuring our students are aware they are worthy of and deserve to have the most effective and trustworthy education the district has to offer. My commitment is an expression of the type of gratitude I have toward the learning opportunities I have been granted to offer to such an influential and precious group of humans. National Principals Month: We're Celebrating Our Principals!
Ms. Robyn Caldwell is the Co-Director of The Academy for Teaching and Learning and has been with CCSD for 32 years. ATL is Chester County's first public charter school, which she founded over 20 years ago.
She is a proud graduate of Chester High School and the University of South Carolina. She is thankful that she returned to Chester to serve her community as an educator of its young people. Ms. Caldwell enjoys spending time with her husband and four children, traveling, and all things football.
She says that being a school principal is the absolute best job ever!
"Not only do I get to nurture and teach children how to become productive grown-ups, but, I also get to challenge teachers to be over-the-top educators who don't take for granted their roles and responsibilities in the lives of the students they teach."

Ms. Anne Stone has been with CCSD for 25 years and is currently the proud Principal of Lewisville Elementary School. She loves spending time outdoors with her loving family, especially her two children.
She says that being a school principal means creating a shared vision that inspires staff and students to reach their full potential.
"Being a principal means being an advocate for students' overall well-being—academic, social, and emotional. We as administrators have the opportunity to help shape students to succeed, no matter their background or challenges."

Mr. David Spencer has been with CCSD for 12 years and is currently the Director of The Learning Center. His household is his wife (currently a teacher with CCSD), three sons, and two dogs. A graduate of The Citadel, Mr. Spencer spends most of his free time coaching or watching his children play sports.
He says that being a principal means that he gets to help create opportunities and build pathways to success for all students.

Mr. Brian Edmond is the Principal of Lewisville Middle School and has been with CCSD for 20 years. He has served in all major parts of Chester County at the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels. He is a huge USC Gamecock fan and a Carolina Panthers fan.
He says that being a school principal allows him to touch the lives of the faculty, staff, and most importantly the students of Chester County.
"I am fully indebted to them because they have accepted my service for the past twenty years. My job and passion as a leader in this great district is to help take teaching and learning to the next level of excellence and to show the state and nation that Chester County School District is a great place to grow!"

This proposal has been developed to ensure our facility needs are met so that our students can continue to have access to the resources and spaces they need to prepare for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead of them. Election day is Tuesday, November 5.

Ms. Tonia Ashford has been with CCSD for 11 years, serving in various roles. She is currently the Principal of Chester Park Elementary COLT. She considers herself a lifelong learner, working towards completing her doctoral dissertation.
She values collaboration and believes strong relationships are key to a successful school. She is dedicated to fostering a positive school culture where everyone feels included and celebrated.
Ms. Ashford says being a principal means leading with purpose, compassion, and a vision for every student’s success. It’s about fostering a positive learning environment where students, teachers, and staff feel supported, inspired, and valued.
"As a principal, I am committed to creating growth opportunities, and ensuring that all students receive the resources and guidance they need to thrive academically and socially."

Ms. Jovanda Murphy has been with CCSD for 11 years off and on. She is currently the proud Director of the Chester County Career Center, where she focuses on helping students gain industry-relevant certifications and prepare for their future careers. She is passionate about creating hands-on learning opportunities that not only engage students but also equip them with the practical skills they need to succeed in life and work.
To Ms. Murphy, being a principal means being an educational leader who creates positive connections between students, staff, parents, and the broader community. Principals balance leadership with compassion, innovation, and responsibility to ensure students receive a high-quality education.

Ms. Latasha Cassidy has been with CCSD for 17 years, and is currently the Principal of Chester Middle School. She is originally from Texas. On her personal time, she enjoys reading, and engaging in plenty of laughter with friends and family.
She says that as a principal, she takes great pride in shaping a supportive environment that lays the foundation for students to have a bright future, empowering students to create better opportunities for themselves and fostering their growth into capable, confident individuals.

Dr. Carmen Brittain has been with CCSD for 7 years and is currently the Director of CCSD Adult Education. A proud Chester High School graduate, she has over 30 years of public education experience! In her free time, she enjoys reading historical fiction.
Dr. Brittain says that being a principal means that she has the opportunity to partner with students, families, and teachers to create learning experiences that will produce successful outcomes for our adult learners.

On Tuesday, November 5, our community will vote on a proposed bond referendum for the Chester County School District. Under the proposal, Chester High School and Lewisville High School would be rebuilt, while significant improvements and additions would be made to Great Falls High School.

Local and state delegates, residents, and school district administrators attended last week's ceremony unveiling the Finley High School historical marker, which honors the school’s role as an African American public school in Chester during segregation.

Mr. Abram Scott is one of our newest Principals, and he is serving in his first year at Chester High School. He enjoys spending time with his family and is a proud father of four daughters. He loves candy, and can eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
To Mr. Scott being a School Principal is a humbling and rewarding experience. Thank you for all you do, Mr. Scott!

Today, CCSD is "going pink" in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We're asking students, teachers, and staff to participate, and we'd love our community to do the same! Post a photo below showing your support, and be sure to include the hashtag "#CCSDfortheCure."

Ms. Suzanne Hough has been with Chester County School District for 18 years. She is a very positive person and tries to find the good in all people. Her favorite color is purple. You can also catch her enjoying a meal at the Mexican restaurant in Richburg at least once a week!
She says that being a principal is a deeply fulfilling journey of leadership and connection that goes beyond simply managing a school. At the heart of her role is a commitment to creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and loving environment, which lays the groundwork for learning and growth.
She believes that when students and staff know they are genuinely valued and feel secure, they can truly thrive. Building strong relationships is essential to this process. Ms. Hough strives to connect with the community, fostering partnerships that enrich school culture and support shared goals, such as local mentorship programs that empower students. It’s inspiring to see how these connections create a sense of belonging and mutual support.
She says that as a servant leader, her focus is on fostering growth in both students and staff. She takes joy in watching them discover their potential and become their best selves.
"Leading with purpose and vision helps us stay aligned, and I’m dedicated to continuous improvement for myself, our students, our staff, and ultimately our community. To me, being a principal means inspiring and uplifting everyone, creating a nurturing environment where we can all grow together and shape a brighter future. As I grew up, my dad often reminded me to love what you do, and you will never work a day in your life. I can genuinely say that I love what I’ve been called to do. I am deeply appreciative of every opportunity to serve and collaborate with the students, staff, families, and community members of Great Falls."
