We are aware that the Buddhist monks participating in the nationwide Walk for Peace will be in Great Falls tonight and tomorrow morning. While they will not be staying at any of our schools, their presence is expected to draw crowds and increase traffic during the morning commute.

We will be operating on a normal schedule; however, please note the following for tomorrow morning:
• Expect slower traffic, congestion, and limited parking near the school.
• Plan extra travel time if dropping off students.
• Follow any instructions from staff or law enforcement, who will have a heightened presence.
• Do not allow students to leave school grounds to observe the monks or the crowds.
• No overnight parking will be allowed on school property.

We do not anticipate any safety concerns later in the day. Please contact CCSD if you have any questions.

The CCSD Board will hold a special-called meeting on December 17 at 1:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct a teacher employment dismissal hearing. The hearing will be open unless the employee requests a closed session under S.C. Code Ann. § 59-25-460. As a result, the meeting may or may not be broadcast live.

Date Reminders: Friday, December 19, 2025, will be a half-day for students. Half-day Dismissal times are as follows:

Elementary Schools: 11:15 am
Middle Schools: 12:00 pm
High Schools: 12:15 pm

Winter Break will take place from December 22, 2025, to January 4, 2026. Monday, January 5, 2026, will be a Teacher Workday.

All students will return to school on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

COLD ADVISORY: Chester County School District will operate on a normal schedule on Monday, December 15, 2025. Please be aware that morning temperatures are expected to be the coldest of the season.

Last night, CCSD and the community celebrated our Adult Education winter graduates. These amazing individuals proved that dedication, perseverance, and hard work make every goal achievable.

As we move into the winter season, we want to remind families of some of our winter weather procedures. Student and staff safety is, and always will be, our top priority. In the event of snow, ice, or severe weather, CCSD will communicate any delays, early dismissals, or closures as early as possible. This is usually based on current road conditions and whether buses can transport children safely to and from school.

Before Thanksgiving Break, students at Chester Park School of Inquiry laced up their sneakers and put their energy to good use during this year’s Turkey Trot! The event brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of school spirit as classes cheered each other on and celebrated the joy of staying active.

Today, we celebrate the incredible students, families, teachers, and support staff who make our special education programs so meaningful. Thank you to all who help create supportive, inclusive environments where EVERY child can thrive.

This Thanksgiving, we’re especially thankful for a community that lifts each other up. To our teachers, support staff, students, families, and neighbors, thank you for all you do. We hope your holiday is filled with peace, gratitude, and togetherness.

Today, we celebrate the dedicated substitute teachers who step in, step up, and keep learning moving forward. Whether planned or last-minute, your flexibility, professionalism, and care ensure our students continue to learn and thrive.

We were honored to welcome some very special visitors to our schools today as part of our ongoing safety initiatives.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure and distraction-free learning environment, our schools participate in routine K9 safety searches throughout the year. These searches are proactive safety measures conducted to help deter prohibited items from entering our campuses.

These visits are not the result of any specific incident but are a regular part of our safety protocols. We appreciate the collaboration of our K9 partners and the cooperation of our students and staff as we continue working together to ensure our schools remain safe places to learn and grow.
