After our students pulled sweet potatoes from the school garden, Mrs. Pakozdy baked them into delicious cookies. We compared cookies made with our very own purple sweet potatoes to traditional sweet potato cookies.—and the taste test was a hit! 💜 #GardenToTable #HandsOnLearning #LionsEmpoweredToSucceed

As an active component for their unit on states of matter, chemical and physical changes, and mixtures/solutions, our 5th graders put their learning into action by making pancakes on Friday! 👩🔬👨🍳
What better way to explore real-life science than through a tasty hands-on activity? Students observed how ingredients change form and interact — and got to enjoy the delicious results!
Way to go, scientists and chefs! 🧪🥞

On Friday, September 12, 2025, Mrs. Cassell’s and Mrs. Pakozdy's classes got their hands dirty and experienced the joy of planting carrot and beet seeds! 🧑🌾
Students learned firsthand how a garden begins and what it takes to grow something from the ground up. With a little patience and care, these veggies will be ready in about 57–58 days — and we can’t wait to see the results! 🥕❤️
Stay tuned for garden updates!

📸 Picture Day Update!
Due to the power outage last week, several students missed their photo sessions — including all of 2nd (except Mrs. Williams' class), 4th, 5th grades, and Pakozdy’s PM class.
We’ve rescheduled Carolina Photography to return on Tuesday, September 2nd, to take pictures for those students, as well as anyone who was absent on the original day.
Thanks for your patience and understanding!

There will be no school on Monday, September 1st in observance of Labor Day.

It’s hands-on learning at its best, and we couldn’t be more proud of their curiosity and collaboration! 💙
