REMINDER: Monday, October 14, 2024, is our District OEC Professional Development Day. There will be no school for students.
All normal school operations will resume on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

CCSD previously announced that the weather make-up day for Monday, September 30, 2024, would take place on November 25, 2024. Due to updated communication from the SC Department of Education, an eLearning Day can be used in place of physically making up the weather day in extreme circumstances, such as those associated with Hurricane Helene.
Therefore, the District has decided to move the weather make-up day to Monday, October 7, 2024, and designate it as an eLearning Day.
With asynchronous instruction, students work independently on the assignments provided. Teachers will advise students of all assignments for the day and will be available during normal school hours via email to provide support as needed.
The original decision to delay the make-up day until November was due to the closeness of the October 7th date, which would have had a greater impact on families and staff members, who already had plans scheduled ahead of time.

This Friday, Oct. 4th is a Half Day. Please be aware that there will be NO Boys & Girls Club on this day. Please send a note to your child's teacher of their PM transportation for Friday.
Oct. 7th - 11th is Fall Intercession, and Oct 14th is a Staff PD Day. Students will be returning to school on Tuesday, Oct. 15th

We hope you and your families continue to remain safe as we navigate the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Given a recent update from Chester County Emergency Management, all Chester County Schools will proceed on a normal schedule on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. We've been advised that road conditions have improved throughout the county, and residents continue to have their power restored.
We thank you for your continued support and patience as we ensure the continued safety of our students and staff members. We wish to give a special thank you to all first responders, and power restoration crews who have worked tirelessly over the past several days. Thank you!

Chester County Emergency Management has informed us that a Tropical Storm Warning will be in effect beginning at 5 pm this evening. As such, all after-school and athletic events scheduled for Thursday will be canceled.
The District will remain on eLearning on Friday, 9/27/24.
Please continue to monitor your local weather stations, and stay safe!

The National Weather Service, in conjunction with Chester County Emergency Management, is predicting potentially dangerous weather conditions Friday morning due to Hurricane Helene including flooding and sustained winds up to 43 mph. These conditions make it hazardous for our buses to operate while transporting students.
For the safety of our school community, the Chester County School District will move to an eLearning day on Friday, September 27, 2024. All after-school activities and athletic events scheduled for Friday will also be canceled.
Students are asked to please ensure they take all learning devices and necessary materials home with them. Teachers will be available during normal school hours via email to provide support as needed. All District staff members are also asked to work remotely. We will continue to monitor the situation and send updates as needed.
Please continue to watch local weather forecasts, and stay safe!

Due to inclement weather, COLT is being proactive in making sure students are prepared for potential virtual days of instruction. All K-5 students will be going home with a packet of work that is to be turned in to their teacher when returning to school.

WEATHER UPDATE: The District is currently monitoring weather conditions and working in conjunction with Chester County Emergency Management. As always, we will notify everyone in the event of any school closures or delays due to hazardous weather.
In preparation for a possible e-learning day, we ask that all parents please remind their children to carry home any necessary items or learning devices over the next several days.
The safety of our students, school buses, and staff traveling on the roads during potentially hazardous conditions remains a priority. Please continue to check our social media, or website for any updates. Also, the District will send out direct communications via phone, text, and email.
Thank you for your cooperation, and please stay safe.

Good afternoon Chester Park Families, This correspondence is to inform you that our campus was placed on a brief SECURE protocol this morning, due to the nearby middle school receiving information on a potential safety risk. A SECURE protocol means that nobody may enter or exit the building until the all clear has been given. The protocol was in placed at the elementary school, due to our proximity to Chester Middle School. The situation has been investigated by security personnel in accordance with district policy, and the SECURE protocol was lifted quickly. At no time was there any imminent threat against the school, students or staff members. Please contact our front office if you have any questions or concerns.
