This is a friendly reminder that tomorrow, 12/20/24, is a half-day for students. CCSD will be closed for winter break beginning Monday, 12/23/24. All students will return to school on January 6, 2025. Have a great holiday break!

We wish to thank our friends at Premier Christian Events for their generous donation of 200 pairs of brand-new shoes for Chester Park Elementary students. Each year, the organization selects to serve two North or South Carolina schools. Thank you!

Per South Carolina Proviso 1.103 (SDE: Anti-Bullying/School Safety), Chester County School District will prohibit the Use of Personal Electronic Devices beginning January 2025.
Under the law, students will not have access to their cell phones or other electronic communication devices during the school day. This is part of a statewide initiative called "Free to Focus" to improve student academic performance and reduce distractions in the classroom.
For more information please visit our website: https://www.chester.k12.sc.us/page/personal-electronic-devices, or the SC Department of Education website: https://ed.sc.gov/freetofocus/.

Per the SC Department of Education, the public is invited to review textbooks and instructional materials proposed for use in South Carolina’s public schools. The materials will be on display at seven locations from November 18, 2024, to January 3, 2025, with instructions for submitting comments available at each site. In addition to the display sites, digital access will be available for the recommended programs.

Substitute Educators Day reminds us of the importance of adaptability and commitment. They step in with little notice, often in unfamiliar environments, and ensure that our students continue to receive the high-quality education they deserve. Their flexibility, professionalism, and dedication do not go unnoticed.
Thank you, Substitute Educators for answering the call when our schools need you most. Show your support in the comments below!

Today on Educational Support Professionals Day, we celebrate the often unsung heroes of our district: the custodians, administrative assistants, food service staff, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, and so many others. Their work ensures that our schools are welcoming, safe, and conducive to learning.
Thank you for all you do to keep our schools running smoothly and support students and staff. Show your support in the comments below!

Last month, Lewisville students from GEAR-UP and Boys to Men, along with Chester students from agriculture classes at the Career Center, took a field trip to the historic Brainerd Institute in Chester to plant trees and participate in educational "Workshops in Open Fields" inspired by accomplished Brainerd graduate Vivian Ayers.
Ayers, whose poetry has been nominated for a Pulitzer and celebrated by NASA, was just recently honored by NASA as one of the "Women of Apollo," or "Hidden Figures."
Likewise, the workshops included Mayan art lessons, mindfulness, poetry, and songwriting. Career Center teacher Daniel Stover provided hands-on Horticulture lessons by helping students plant oak trees and learn to take care of the beautiful campus as an act of community service.

CCSD is once again excited to announce its district-wide Holiday Toy Drive!
Starting today through December 6th, everyone is welcome to drop off donations of new toys, clothing items, or books at the District Office or at any school location. Additional information is in the flyer below.
